Capitol Hill Stock Market Game - 2011 & 2012

2011 and 2012 Capitol Hill Stock Market Game team winners in Washington D.C. with Congresswoman Judy Biggert. Congratulations to Mr. Geers, Kunal Kochar, Shamil Shafi, Shane Shafi, and Brad Stimple!
For the 2011 competition, these students managed a hypothetical portfolio of $100,000. This was a national competition involving 1,564 teams of 3-5 students, from all 50 states. They took FIRST PLACE with a portfolio value of $171,675.10! What is even more impressive is this includes a 2% transaction fee, which cost them more than $62,000. In addition, the second place team, from Oak Hill HS in Maine, ended with a portfolio value of $134,547.86. This accomplishment earned them a trip to Washington, DC to meet their Member of Congress (Judy Biggert), tour the nation’s capitol and see first-hand how our national economic policies are developed.
The team made an amazing and unprecedented return to Washington D.C. after taking second place in the nation in the 2012 competition, the first time a team has ever repeated since the program started in 2004.
