Advertising (BUS3000)This course is project-based and focuses on principles and practices. Students learn the history of Advertising, its role in today's society, how the industry works, careers in Advertising, and the techniques and strategies used to create ads for a variety of media types. Emphasis is placed on planning and designing advertisements that appeal to specific target markets through several different types of media and working towards developing a campaign for a real client.

Student Campaign Examples
Incorporating the business community has become an integral part of the course and has allowed students to welcome representatives from various organizations into the classroom to field questions about their companies, products and customers - all in hopes of students being able to create the most effective advertisements to best fit the "client's" wants and needs.
Several local businesses have worked with our Advertising classes: More than Core Pilates, Behavioral Perspectives, Handlebars Cycling gym, and American Pride Security. Some have even awarded prizes to students creating the best Campaigns. Shown on the left is student Katie Victorson holding her ad and the Blackhawks tickets that the company presented her with!
